****What:** An all-winch epic from 420 Films’ McGuigan and Jonathon Ferrer.**

****Where:** God only knows. We’re Just Skiing covers every type of spillway, gap and ledge imaginable in what looks like some backwoods places. The best we could make out, most of it was shot in the Dirty South.**

****Why You Should Watch:** Winching has more of a street skating feel, where anything and everything is fair game and the hairier the better. Gone are the days when someone could boost a double-up, slam, then resurface with a smile that says, “It’s only water.” We’re Just Skiing demonstrates better than anything we’ve seen the true danger and appeal of winching. That same rider would smack down from a spillway with a piece of re-rod sticking out of his leg and a tooth or two knocked out. We love it. The crash section is truly horrendous. From full rail crotchings to sticky 15-foot cement declines to shrapnel-strewn stream landings, you start to wonder how many died in the making of the film. With a mostly classic rock soundtrack and that special brand of grass roots that’s so endearing, We’re Just Skiing is raw and guerilla, but still has some of the biggest hammers in the business.**

****The Bonus:** The bonus section is mostly raw, unedited takes of the crew getting hounded by cops, hanging out and everything that comes with hit-and-run winching. — Craig Kotilinek**

Brian Grubb and Danny Hampson finished second and third in the best trick event.Grubb struggled for most of the six-man 45-minute final, but came up huge with a late frontside shove up the Step Up Productions step-up rail. Hampson’s clean frontside 180, switch 50-50 shove earned him the third spot on the podium.Thirty-two riders competed in the event’s qualifying round. Red Bull Wake Lab may indeed be the largest and most innovative wakeboarding event ever, but today at Tempe Town Lake, it also felt like the windiest.  The first day of competition, which included pre-qualifying and qualifying rounds, saw the first three heats getting progressively stronger as the day went on, but unfortunately the wind followed suit.  Before the 50 mph gusts finally caused the remaining qualifying heats to be postponed, spectators were treated to an amazing display of skill on the one-of-a-kind Wake Lab.   The pre-qualifying event saw two local boys eliminated, as Phoenix locals Benjamin Christensen and Larry Taylor failed to advance.  Once pre-qualifying was over, only Kyle Alberts and Kaesen Suyderhoud (heat 1) and Robby Carter and Kyle Rattray (heat 2) moved to the next round, the quarterfinals.  Only one round of quarterfinals took place before the wind became unbearable, with Mike Ennen and Gabe Lucas taking the top two spots.  Quarterfinals continued Saturday, April 4, at 8am, with semifinals and finals continuing directly afterwards.

While one mighty wind was shutting down Red Bull Wake Lab for the day, the Arizona Diamondbacks were experiencing another mighty wind coming off Parks Bonifay’s fastball as he threw ceremonial first pitch at Friday night’s game.
