Supreme’s S240 satisfies most watersports boat buyer’s needs at a price notably lower than similar-size offerings. Supreme’s signature EZ-V hull, QuickSurf system, and 4,800 pounds of onboard ballast allow the S240 to deliver wakesurfing waves that people at every skill level can ride and enjoy.

With a capacity of 16 people and storage to match, the S240 proves roomy enough for you to host a crowd of friends and family. For the captain, a bolstered, swiveling seat makes for carefree days of pulling, made simpler with Supreme’s well-executed and easy-to-use systems. A 7-inch highly visible touchscreen allows for quick access to the ballast, trim tabs, speed-control settings and other onboard systems. New conveniences for 2024 include a wireless phone charger and a small audio control located near the throttle. I found this last feature highly convenient for quickly turning down the volume when I needed to speak with a rider on the swim step.

Of course, wakesurf waves are the star of the show, offering a clean, rideable surface that packs a punch. They have plenty of push that can be adjusted for different styles and ability levels. Much of that customization is controlled via the Stinger Wake Plate, which you operate using a lever mounted behind the steering wheel. When you find a ballast, speed and plate-position setup to your liking, the settings can be saved to a custom-rider profile. Simple!

The wraparound interior offers plenty of lounge space for all passengers, and the oversize bow easily fits two adults. Add the removable cushion to the walk-through, and the playpen-style layout is as comfy for riding as it is for taking a nap while at anchor. Spradling vinyl is used throughout for upholstery. It adds to the comfort factor, but also ensures extreme durability. The oversize Bimini shade also adds comfort while incorporating extra wakesurf board storage.

All said and done, the S240 checks a lot of boxes for any buyer looking to get into the watersports and V-drive market, or move from a smaller boat into a larger one without breaking the bank.

Capable of taking on 3,500 pounds of subfloor ballast, then shaping the wakes and waves with the integrated Swell Surf System and Supra SmartPlate, the Supra SA creates pro-level riding surfaces that you can customize to accommodate beginner riders as well. Supra’s proprietary AutoWake technology automatically adjusts the ballast based on how the boat is riding. This makes for clean, consistent wakes and waves.

The SA’s systems are controlled via two large MFD touchscreens. Optional steering-wheel controls add convenience, allowing adjustment of settings without looking at the screen. New for 2024, the powered captain’s chair can be equipped with a heater and two memory settings to save preferred positions. The new windshield looks great, mirroring the lines of the SA and the new Supra Tower. Order the stern-thruster option, controlled via a twist knob on the throttle lever, for intuitive control in tight spaces.

The new sound system proves innovative. Dubbed the DSD audio system, the SA is equipped with 22 high-performance speakers, six of which are built into the side panels of the tower. Those speakers are powered by five amps (yes, five), with 25 channels of amplification. The result is an audio experience you must hear. DSD is unlike anything else in boat audio.

Up to 16 friends and family can enjoy comfort aboard the SA. Deep seating and plush upholstery make for a comfortable ride. And the rear flip seat converts to face aft so everybody can watch the action. Flip-up sun-pad backrests also turn the transom into a great lounging spot. Thanks to the subfloor ballast, storage is ample beneath every seat, including an in-floor cooler. Especially notable is a rear locker accessible from the swim step that holds multiple wakesurf boards. Speaking of the swim step, consider the optional automated Dropstep version. This deploys at the push of a button from underneath, making getting out of the water a whole lot easier.

Heyday H20 ready for wake sports
The H20 has big advantages with its smaller size. Garrett Cortese

Given the growth of the inboard watersports boat market over the last decade, it should come as no surprise that the trend of offering bigger and bigger models has only—for lack of a better term—grown. Manufacturers such as Centurion, Malibu and MasterCraft all offer models 26 feet or longer. But does bigger always mean better? Not necessarily. Fortunately, for prospective buyers who need something smaller, there are still plenty of options to choose from. Most brands offer at least one model 21 feet or under, and several offer multiple. While the advantages of larger boats specific to wakeboarding and wakesurfing are fairly obvious, such as more room for friends, larger ballast systems for superior waves, etc., there are a lot of benefits to smaller boats.

The most obvious advantage is the purchase price. Generally, a 20- to 22-foot model is going to cost significantly less than a 25- to 26-footer. The second biggest economic advantage for smaller boats is fuel efficiency. Less fuel consumed means more wallet savings. Plus, if you’re a boater who needs to trailer your boat to and from your favorite riding spots, a smaller boat means better gas mileage for the tow vehicle (and quite possibly a cheaper vehicle that doesn’t require such a large tow rating).

Along with being easier to tow, smaller boat models are much easier to store, especially if you need to keep one in a standard-size garage. Every model listed in this roundup features a collapsible tower, making it ideal for storing in tighter places. The smaller size also presents an advantage when it comes to handling. A 20-foot boat is going to be easier to maneuver than its 26-foot sibling. MasterCraft’s XT20 is 6 feet, 5 inches shorter, 2 inches narrower and 1,800 pounds lighter than the Yacht Certified X26, so you know it’s going to be less demanding to handle in tight quarters.

With all the advancements in hull design and wave-shaping technologies, the smaller boats in the watersports segment are able to produce better wakes and waves than ever before. In years past, buyers who wanted clean surf waves with plenty of push for all the riders in their family often had to go for the bigger boats that displaced more water. In 2024, that’s not always the case. All the boats in our list can create waves that cater to all types of different riding levels and styles. You won’t be able to bring 16 or 17 of your closest friends; however, you can have a blast on the water with everybody you can bring, and you’ll likely save some money while doing it.

Here’s a look at nine of the best wakeboats under 21 feet.

MasterCraft XT20

The MasterCraft XT20 has been redesigned from the bottom up and MasterCraft have put a lot of time into making sure this 20-footer packs a punch more in line with bigger models. Equipped with the revamped SurfStar system, the XT20 can push out sizeable waves with plenty of push, along with clean, symmetrical wakeboarding wakes. The convertible rear bench and transom lounge seats–built with MasterCraft’s triple density foam and ultra-comfy vinyl–ensure everybody onboard will be comfortable. The XT line is one of the most customizable in the market, so buyers can opt to go more minimal with a new build, or take this 20-footer to the next level with all the bells and whistles MasterCraft have to offer.

Heyday H20

All-new for 2023, the Heyday H20 builds on the success of its bigger sibling, the H22. Heyday has carved out a solid spot in the marketplace by offering great performance at a very affordable price. The H20 is the only boat in this lineup without an automated surf system, but it doesn’t necessarily need one – it still puts up a solid wave, and that can be added to with an optional suction-cup-mounted wave shaper device. Two features we love about the H20: the rear-facing transom seats are an awesome way to watch the action on the water–no other manufacturer has seats like these, and the power-folding swimstep. This makes the H20 even easier to store in a garage or other tight spaces.

Moomba Mondo

Moomba have consistently upgraded the performance and capabilities of their models, allowing buyers to get solid performance at a more budget-friendly price. The 20-foot Moomba Mondo is the smallest in the lineup, but thanks to an impressive 3,700 pounds of ballast, the Swell Surf System plates and AutoWake technology, it kicks up seriously fun wakes and waves. AutoWake is key for the Mondo, as the system utilizes onboard sensors to monitor the boat’s running attitude. It will automatically adjust the Swell Surf System and ballast as needed in order to keep the wake or wave in an optimal spot. This takes a ton of the guesswork out of setting the Mondo up, which is great for new users or veteran riders alike, because it means less time trying to figure things out and more time on the water having fun.

Axis A20

The Axis A20 has been a staple in the Axis lineup since the brand’s inception, and it saw a major refresh in 2020. An improved running surface, combined with a more comfortable ride make the A20 a great option for families getting into the watersports scene. The ease-of-use of the Surf Gate and Power Wedge III systems for wakeboarding and wakesurfing can’t be overstated. The A20’s versatility make it great for riders just learning to get up or those looking to add more advanced tricks to their bag.

Centurion Fi21

The Centurion Fi21 is the smallest boat in the Centurion line, but it still prides itself on the wave-making performance Centurion is known for. At 5,100 pounds, the Fi21 is the heaviest in this group (tied with the MasterCraft XT20), and combined with its whopping 4,750 pounds of ballast (by far the most in this group), it can displace a lot of water. Featuring Centurion’s acclaimed Opti-V hull for a running surface, that means riders are getting clean, powerful waves with a large pocket and plenty of push. The QuickSurf Pro plates at the transom ensure the waves stay consistent and fun, while allowing for limitless customization for riders of any skill level.

Malibu 21 LX

Introduced in 2022, the Malibu 21 LX is a model that takes influence from several previous Malibu models and molds them into a multisport, family-fun machine. The hybrid bow is one easy-to-spot representation of this–the 21 LX has lines similar to a traditional bow, but the interior area is shaped like a bigger pickle fork bow, allowing more room for passengers. Buyers can choose between two hull types, Wake Plus and Diamond. Wake Plus caters to those looking more toward wakesurfing and wakeboarding performance, while Diamond is geared toward ultimate versatility for users who also want to water ski more aggressively behind the 21 LX. As for the wakes and waves, the combination of Surf Gate and Power Wedge III ensure the 21 LX can be quickly and easily tweaked for all different levels and styles of riding. Opt in for the Surf Band remote and the rider can control those systems from their wrist while riding.

Nautique GS20

The Nautique GS20 underwent a complete redesign and is all-new for 2023. Touted as a true crossover performer, it can pull a fun wakesurf session with solid waves and then in a matter of minutes tow a skier through the slalom course. The GS20’s hull takes design cues from its Ski Nautique and Super Air Nautique G23 cousins, allowing it to perform better than you’d think in both extremes for a 20-foot V-drive. With Nautique Surf System plates tooled into the transom of the boat, the GS20 can quickly kick up solid wakesurfing waves that can be fine-tuned for beginners to more advanced riders. NSS plates are also much smaller than other surf system plates on the market, allowing for quick transfers from side to side when wakesurfing.

Supra SR

The 20′ 11” Supra SR offers the sporty, aggressive looks Supra have become known for, with all-around performance that caters to first-timers and more advanced riders alike. At just under 21-feet, the SR is rated for 14 passengers, more than any other boat on this list, and if you load up with friends, along with the 3,300 pounds of ballast and Supra’s Swell Surf System, you’re going to get some endless waves that are a ton of fun. Supra’s patented AutoWake system comes standard, making the on-water experience that much easier and more fun for both the rider and the captain.

Tigé 20 RZX

Despite being 20 feet on the dot, Tigé’s pickle-fork shaped 20RZX offers room for 13 while holding up to 3,000 pounds of ballast. With just one screen at the helm–the vertically-mounted Clear Screen–the 20 RZX keeps things simple and clean. The single screen on the right of the steering wheel means the captain has a clean line of sight and minimal distractions, while the 20 RZX’s systems can still be quickly and easily controlled with a couple finger taps. Preset settings for surfing, wakeboarding and water skiing make the 20 RZX a breeze to set up and start riding, and the TAPS 3T surf plates allow for easy customization of the waves for a variety of riders.

The 2022 Pro Wakeboard Tour, presented by Supra Boats, is wrapped up for the season and it was nothing short of insane! The pro athletes worked so hard this season to try to have a place on the podium in each event. After a heated battle, Cory Teunissen came out on top, but Nic Rapa was hot on his heels in hopes of dethroning Cory. Not only did Cory win stop 4, he also won the tour overall. Let’s break down the competition and see how it all went down.

The event happened live, but was made for media so it was released online September  5 on FuelTV and YouTube. The event happened at Lake David in Groveland, Florida and showcased the best wakeboarders in the world. Alexa Score and Parks Bonifay hosted the event and interviewed the athletes lakeside.

As the event transpired the athletes and their families looked out upon the lake to watch the passes of other riders to see which tricks they’d need to pull out of their trick back when it was their turn to ride. Cory had an incredible finals run consisting of a heelside 9, backside 9, toeside 9, double heelside backroll, double toeside backroll, toeside 10, back mobe 5, crow mobe 5, and a double half cab roll off the double up!

Nic Rapa made competition history at stop 4! He became the first wakeboarder to ever land a double tantrum to blind in a wakeboarding competition! If you don’t know what that means, no sweat, let’s break down the trick. Nic approached the wake on his heel side, launched off the wake, flipped two full rotations backwards, and then landed blind. Let me say, it was incredible to witness first hand!

The final pro heat featured six riders: Cory Teunissen, Nic Rapa, Guenther Oka, Tyler Higham, Fynn Bullock, and Maxime Roux. The pro athletes put it all on the line and had some incredible runs! The riders were on FIRE! It was such a blast to watch as I was fortunate enough to have a front row seat, as I filmed the riders from the boat. Speaking of video, stay on the lookout for our upcoming recap video of PWT stop 4.  In the end, Cory Teunissen took the final heat, winning the top spot on the PWT podium! If you haven’t already, click the video above to see the full event which includes wakeboarding and wakesurfing. I’d be a shame to miss out on such world class action sports. Go watch them throw down some insane tricks!

Stop 4 Finals Results

  1. Cory Teunissen 96.00
  2. Nic Rapa 93.33
  3. Guenther Oka 86.33

Words With the Winner: Cory Teunissen

WBM: Hey Cory, you absolutely killed it throughout the whole Pro Wakeboard Tour! Congrats on all your insane runs, tricks, and successfully winning stop 4 and the Pro Wakeboard Tour as a whole! Describe your emotions going into the finals and especially when you found out you won it all!

CT: Yeah mate! I was just happy with my performance. I had an idea on what I wanted to do and happened to do it exactly as I wanted. I also kinda knew with the points lead that I had and what I did secured me the overall title. So more just proud of what I was able to lay down and joy knowing I just clinched the championship. It was a good day for sure!

Be sure to check out stop 1, 2, and 3 if you missed them to see how the riders did throughout the whole pro wakeboard tour season.

The Pro Wakeboard Tour is getting heated and by the looks of it the tables have turned! After Cory Teunissen won both stop 1 and 2, the other pro athletes were itching to steal the throne from him! Nic Rapa did just that and won stop 3 of the Pro Wakeboard Tour! Let’s get this party started!

Nic Rapa has been itching to win since the beginning of Stop 1. He’s known for going big and consistently riding impressive lines. Nic opened his final run with a 1080 and off to a Double Half Cab Roll, Double Indy Tantrum to Blind, Blind Pete Rose, Indy Moby Dick, and finished with a Mute Frontside 3. Nic threw the handle at the end of his run signifying with confidence the tricks he threw down would make the cut! To top it all off, after 6 solid tricks, Nic went on to stomp a massive Heelside Nosegrab 1080 for his double up! Yew! What an incredible run!

The online event was released on FuelTV and YouTube on August 8, 2022 and showcased some of the best riders in the world. Alexa Score and Parks Bonifay hosted the event and interviewed the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winning athletes. Tyler Higham took 3rd place and Cory Teunissen pulled 2nd place. Stop 3 switched it up from Stop 2! This time the riders submitted a video featuring a 6 best trick line and a double up. Simply put the runs had to be continuous in order to count. As part of the rules each athlete also must do a trick that’s less than 540°.

Competing in the finals heat were Nic Rapa, Cory Teunissen, Tyler Higham, Jake Pelot, Massi Piffaretti, Thomas Herman, Guenther Oka, and Sam Brown.

All the athletes absolutely sent it out there and had some incredible runs! The stakes were high and the riders were on FIRE! In the end, Nic Rapa took the final heat, winning his spot at the top of the PWT podium! You don’t want to miss witnessing these world class athletes throw down insane tricks!

Cory Teunissen followed up his win at Stop One of the Pro Wakeboard Tour with another win at Stop Two of the 30th annual PWT.

The digital event launched on FuelTV on July 11 which is good news because it’s available to watch globally on the internet. Each rider submitted their best nine filmed tricks from any time period over their career for a chance to come out on top. Out of the nine tricks, one has to be a double up and another a less than five. The unique video format of this event gives the riders an amazing advantage over a live competition due to the ability to submit their best content of landed tricks. Each rider will have to dig deep into their trick bank to end out on the podium. Let’s check in with our hosts Alexa Score and Parks Bonifay to see how the athletes did in Stop 2!

All the trick submissions from the riders left the judges in a tough spot with having to choose from so many talented entries. It was equally as tough for the riders however. The pressure was on when deciding which tricks to submit for the contest because none of the riders knew which tricks their competition would be using as in their entries. After much deliberation, in the winner’s line up: Cory Teunissen took 1st place, not far behind Tyler Higham in 2nd, and Nick Rapa in 3rd place. The form factor is different in stop 2.

Nick Rapa has won the PWT the last 3 years and it appears he’s in for a lot of competition as all the riders throw down their best tricks. With so much new talent, every rider has to step up their runs.

Tyler Higham hit an insane heel seven with a 180 rewind on the landing for his double up. As one of the best riders in the world, Cory Teunissen has competed on the Pro Wakeboard Tour for nearly ten years. He’s from Australia, but spends much of the year in Orlando, Florida. He absolutely shreds on the water so it’s no surprise that he came out on top. Cory’s goal is to do everything to the best of his ability and we definitely got to witness that in this event. The insane tricks Cory Teunissen submitted, landed him in the winners seat yet again!

Cory: Thank you! I feel good! I’m stoked to get another one and develop two for two this year. I didn’t get to win one PWT last year, but I got two already this year. So I’m definitely pretty hyped. For the first time in a long time everything is good and going well. I’m riding the best I’ve ever ridden!

Wakeboarding Magazine extends a huge congratulations to Cory Teunissen on yet another Pro Wakeboard Tour 1st place win. Tune in on FuelTV and YouTube to see all the action and if Cory Teunissen will get a three-pete at Stop 3, happening August 8!

Cory Teunissen took first place in the Pro Wakeboard Tour’s Stop One at Lake David, in Groveland, Florida!

It’s a super special year for the PWT as the tour celebrates 30 years of amazing memories by riders creating wakeboarding history! Stakes are high and the riders are on fire! Keep your eyes peeled this summer to follow all the action online via FuelTV and YouTube. Upcoming stops include: July 11, August 8, and September 5.

Dano the Mano and Parks Bonifay hosted the event with Alexa Score interviewing athletes dockside. The athletes are in for a treat as they are pulled by a decked out Supra SA 550, which is jet black rocking gold accents! In the judges’ seats are Reed Hansen, Andrew Atkinson, and Chad Sharpe. The judges are on the lookout for the rider throwing the most technical tricks and grabs. Let’s see who’ll come out on top!

Stop 1 kicked off with the Junior Pro riders. Beaux Wildman in 1st, Daniel Johnson 2nd, and Pablo Monroy in 3rd. Next up, Pro Wakesurfing. Camron Swanson won 1st place by landing some insane body varials. Beaux Wildman in 2nd and finally Taylor Swanson in 3rd. Pro Wakeboarding, the pinnacle of the event is up next, so let’s dive right in!

Competing in the Finals Line Up are Pro Riders: Jake Pelot, Nic Rapa, Tyler Higham, Sam Brown, Cory Teunissen, and last but certainly not least, Guenther Oka. The pressure is on! Each rider must dig deep since they only have 2 passes and a double up to showcase what they’ve got to the judges. Here’s the catch, if a rider falls on a pass during any trick, that run is finished!

Jumping right in! Sam Brown, last year’s stop 1 winner, was itching to win again! After an insane run of massive tricks, he attempted a huge double moby dick on his double up and unfortunately slipped out. According to the hosts, his missed landing cost him the opportunity for a consecutive win. The other riders had some amazing runs too but fell short. It didn’t take long before the hosts knew Cory Teunissen (Get to Know Australia’s Cory Teunissen) was in it, to win it!

Cory has landed more wake to wake 1080’s than any other rider in competitions! After throwing a huge switch heelside 900, he took a quick equipment change due to breaking his board. Despite the break in his rhythm, Cory picked up right where he left off and absolutely killed his second set landing all his tricks. Digging deep in his bag of tricks he pulled 1 trick 2nd trick backside 900, 3rd trick toe 900 4th double back roll. On his double up, he threw a huge double half cab roll, winning 1st place due to scoring the highest run.

Wakeboarding Magazine: Hey Cory! Huge congratulations on taking 1st place at stop 1of the Pro Wakeboard Tour! What went through your mind when you knew you won?

Cory: I was stoked to take the first stop! I think I was more proud of the performance more than anything. I felt super strong in all events and won some super tough heats to make it to finals. I’m also starting to realize I have the best support team in the world around me and they get me to where I need to be. So it’s only up from here. Definitely a great way to start the year, but I know there’s a lot of work to be done.
